How does a college freshman come to have 100 fruit trees?

The short answer is with insistence, a wish to be collect and be self sufficient eventually for ones own fruit needs.The longer answer is that my fascination with plants and specific conditions they require, all started in the closed environment of a planted aquarium. I started with gardening in aquarium with aquatic plants. Very few ever survived and I was interested to know what allowed the few which survived to thrive. After gaining a good grasp on what plants need I started to branch out. As much as I would like to take all the credit for catching the plant bug, what really changed my hobby into a passion was when one of my sisters left for college and left me in charge of her 2 succulent plants. Soon I learned that succulents could be easily propagated and before I knew it had a few hundred plants taking up a small deck space. As with all teenagers tastes change and I became disinterested in my “basic” succulents so I decided to source a few rare and sensitive colorful succulents. During this upgrade I quickly learned about cold snaps,grow zones and what categorizes a tropical plant from a temperate plant. After learning how I could manipulate growing climates I sourced mango trees, banana trees and many tropicals over the course of a couple years.

After months of procrastinating I finally devoted the 4 hours to install an auto irrigation system. Thanks Orbitt!
